Salvation! Buell sportbikes reborn as Erik Buell Racing

Knee-draggers take heart: following the disappointing news that Harley-Davidson has killed the Buell brand, comes the announcement of its rebirth. Don’t go looking for any new street bikes, though; the Buell name will carry on strictly through racing.

According to the announcement, company founder and chairman Erik Buell will leave the Motor Company to head up the newly formed Erik Buell Racing. This spin-off will be supported by HDMC and based at the Buell factory in East Troy, Wisconsin. The racing outfit will likely retain part of the workforce that, until last week, was responsible for assembling the roadgoing sportbikes. Rather than building bikes for public consumption, however, the team at Erik Buell Racing will supply the Buell 1125R to racing teams for as long as the bike complies with current competition regs.

So, while existing Buell retailers will sell off the remaining stock of street bikes, the name will live on (for a while, at least) on the racing circuit. Check out the fresh mega gallery of 1125R images (on and off the track) and the details in the press release after the jump.

Can-Am Spyder: One of the Coolest Motorcycles Money Can Buy

    Can-Am Spyder

Is the Can-Am Spyder Roadster a motorcycle or a car? Either way you want to look at it, this is one sexy beast. This three wheeled vehicle is a hybrid between a motorcycle and a sports car, with two wheels on the front and one in the back. With a stunning design and even better performance, the Spyder has a Vehicle Stability System (VSS) with anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control systems, and is described by BRP as the next dimension in open road riding and a paradigm shift.

The Can-Am Spyder is powered by a Rotax 990cc V-Twin liquid-cooled engine with five-speed manual transmission. The Y-shaped chassis gives the Spyder the stability of a car, thanks to dynamic power steering and a center steel beam. BRP plans to start selling the Can-Am Spyder in selected states in America and Canada by the fall of 2007, and in rest of the U.S., France and Spain by 2008. Other countries should expect to see this beast in three to four years. The Spyder will come with two colours options, silver and yellow, and should cost US$ $14,999

Cool New Bike

    MotoCzysz Unveils Cool New Bike

motoczysz ttxgp MotoCzysz Unveils Cool New Bike

MotoCzysz has introduced the open architecture E1pc motorcycle. It is an electric motorcycle and is now being entered into the awesome TTXGP race. The bike looks cool with its partial orange colour and I must say it is indeed an interesting concept.

The bike comes with awesome Ohlin linkage and Brembo braking. All this contributes to the bike’s success. It is made from the choicest carbon fibre and aluminium. It runs on lithium ion batteries and can reach a maximum speed of over 150mph. The bike also weighs just 195 kilograms.

This is one of the coolest bikes to be launched this week and I must the lightweight and high-speed design makes this electric bike green, trendy and also functional. There is no information about the price or availability but I am sure since it is being entered into a race, it would also be out in a commercial way. Watch out for this one!
